Landscaping in Somis, CA

Somis is rural and agricultural, with large lots surrounded by groves and fields between Camarillo and Moorpark. Landscaping here often covers big areas around ranch homes, driveways, and outbuildings, where low maintenance, water efficiency, and fire safety matter more than formal gardens.

Landscaping on rural lots

Large areas call for durable, low-water plantings, gravel and decomposed granite paths, and efficient irrigation zones. Properties may have private wells or agricultural water, which affects irrigation design. Inland heat and Santa Ana winds favor tough natives and Mediterranean plants. Defensible space around homes and outbuildings is important, especially near brushy hills.
